Term Definitions
The following list defines some of the website terms used on this website to describe features and services offered.
Drupal - a dynamic, database-driven content management system used for the Criterium websites. Each site has its own Drupal installation, or database, to create the most flexible possible environment for generating new and interesting website content and features.
FTP - File Transfer Protocol; a mechanism by which to enable the exchanging of information between computers over the internet. This involves the sending or receiving of files from a remote server. In this case, our web server provides the FTP functionality.
Marketing Marquee - A banner graphic used on a website to promote the core competencies of the business in a manner than invites website browsers to further research the organization. The marquee should include a descriptive superlative or slogan which helps to define the personality of the business or market segment.
Meta Tag - an element of HTML website source code that describes the contents of a webpage. Meta tags are used by search engines to index pages. Correctly using meta tags as part of search engine optimization can improve a website's standings in search results.
RSS - Rich Site Summary; a way of allowing web users to receive news headlines and updates on their browser from selected websites as soon as they are published
SEO - Search Engine Optimization; the process of adjusting the content, structure, etc, of a website so that it will be displayed prominently by a search engine such as Google. This service is intended to make your website more visible to potential customers.
Tall Site Map Footer - A dynamically generated menu located in the footer of the website, containing all primary pages for the website. It is designed to help users navigate any portion of a website without scrolling up and down the page.
